Many eye diseases show no early symptoms, which is why regular comprehensive eye exams are essential — especially after 40, or if you have a family history of glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, or diabetes-related eye conditions. Even if your vision seems fine, a routine eye exam or vision test can detect issues before they affect your sight.
90% of blindness is preventable when conditions are caught early. That’s why we recommend:
- Every 12 months for adults over 65
- Every 12 months for contact lens wearers
- Every 12-24 months for adults under 65 and children
- More frequent testing if you have specific eye or health concerns

Are eye tests bulk-billed?
Kindly note we are a private billing practice and consultation fees apply. For eligible Medicare cardholders, your Medicare rebate will be lodged on your behalf on the day of your comprehensive eye exam or routine eye test appointment.
Additional costs may apply for optional advanced scans or specialty services, which we will always discuss upfront before proceeding.
What should I bring to my eye test and how should I prepare for it?
Please bring your Medicare card, any current glasses or contact lenses, and your private health fund card.
If you wear contact lenses, try to refrain from wearing them for at least 24 hours beforehand so we can get accurate measurements during your comprehensive eye exam or vision test.
How long does an eye test take?
Around 30 minutes, depending on whether additional testing is required.
What happens after my eye test?
After your comprehensive eye exam, your optometrist will explain your results and recommend tailored solutions.
This may include updating your glasses with a recommended prescription lens, booking additional vision tests, or starting a treatment plan for Ortho-K, dry eye treatment, myopia management, or other eye conditions.

What technology and equipment do you use during an eye exam?
We use the latest technology and equipment such as an Autorefractor and Non-Contact Tonometer (NCT), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans, Corneal Topographer, and Visual Field Analyser to assess your eyes quickly, thoroughly, and comfortably during your comprehensive eye exam or vision test.

Do I need new glasses after every eye test?
Not necessarily. If your prescription has changed, if you’re experiencing visual strain, or require additional visual support for your occupation or lifestyle, we’ll recommend an update during your comprehensive eye exam or routine vision test. Otherwise, we’ll help you maintain your current setup.
Can I use my existing frames and just get new lenses?
Yes — we offer a re-lensing service for suitable frames. During your comprehensive eye exam or vision test, we’ll assess their condition and ensure a perfect fit for your updated prescription.

Do you offer contact lens fittings?
Yes — we provide contact lens assessments, fittings, and training sessions, including specialty lenses like Ortho-K and daily, fortnightly or monthly disposables.

Can I bring in my prescription from another optometrist?
Absolutely. We can help you get new glasses or contact lenses using an external prescription, and we’re happy to double-check your measurements during your comprehensive eye exam or vision test if needed.

Yes — we screen for a range of conditions using modern diagnostic tools. If we detect signs of disease, we’ll guide you on further testing or referral to a specialist if needed. Can I claim with my private health fund?
Yes — we accept all major health funds and can process optical claims on the spot for glasses, lenses, and some additional tests.
The amount you can claim back is dependent on your respective insurance policy.

Autorefractor & Non-Contact Tonometer (NCT)
An Autorefractor measures your eye’s ability to focus and helps determine your prescription – but unlike a phoropter, an auto-refractor adjusts automatically. This means there is no need to look at a letter chart or give feedback on how clear your vision is. It measures refractive error by seeing how light is changed as it enters the eye and lands on your retina. Combined is a Non-Contact Tonometer which assesses intraocular pressure (IOP) to screen for glaucoma.
Corneal Topographer
Our Corneal Topographer is a highly precise instrument used to map the surface curvature of the cornea. It plays a crucial role in:
- Ortho-K Lens Fitting – By providing detailed corneal maps, it allows optometrists to design customised orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lenses for myopia control and vision correction.
- Dry Eye Assessment – It evaluates the tear film quality and break-up time, assisting in diagnosing and managing dry eye syndrome.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Our OCT scans provide high-resolution, cross-sectional images of the retina, optic nerve, and anterior segment. It is crucial for early detection of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma, as well as monitoring optic nerve health.
Visual Field Testing (Perimetry)
A visual field test evaluates peripheral vision, detecting blind spots or vision loss. It is commonly used for glaucoma management, neurological conditions (e.g., strokes, tumors), and driving/occupational assessments.
